Lagos Secondary Schools Relay Teams will compete to reveal the best during the maiden edition of the Lagos State Secondary Schools Relays, which will take place at the Teslim Balogun Stadium from Wednesday, May 10th – 12th, 2017.
The Championship is open to all public and private secondary schools within the state and will be used as a platform to discover and develop talents that can be nurtured into future champions for the state and country in within the near future.
Already over 80 schools representing various districts have registered, while more are still expected to do same with their Education District Sports Officers before the closing date of Friday, May 5th.
Events to be competed in are the 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m and mixed relays in both the boy’s and girl’s category, with the best athletes in each events winning running gears and a chance to train with the best track clubs within the state. Lagos Athletics Clubs will also be invited to compete.
According to the Lagos State Sports Commission, the championship is aimed at not only creating healthy competition and promoting sporting culture among secondary school students, but to help discover the best student athletes that will be nurtured by the state into future champions.
