After the rain, the 2017 king of the console kicked off with high expectations from gamers, fans and passerby.
The title sponsor of the event, Bet9ja came in handy as they waited in the rain to reward the passions of the fans while Redbull gave the gamers & fans wings to fly despite the rain.
It was not a rat race but gamers’ race as gamers tackled one another for the ultimate prize as it was straight to knock out stages. Basically, no time to check time.
After three rounds of knock out games, we were down to top 4 gamers, the semi-finals where everything was at stake.
Giwa & Slade faced off in the third-placed match & after 90 minutes, Giwa took the bronze medal with a “not so straightforward” 3-1 win over Slade.
The peak of the day saw Folarin & Efe threw away friendship for the ultimate goal to win the top prize & be the new King of the Console.
Teluwo Folarin, an undergradute of University of Lagos studying Economics took the top prize home, a reward of N150,000 with an “escaped” 1-0 win over Efe, who went home with a cool N50,000 for his efforts in the final.
King of the Console was not just a gaming event. We had other social events where fans networked & an after-party to wrap up a very successful & entertaining event.
King of the console 2018, the World Cup Edition will hold after the European league season in May/June.
